Make it fucking stop

This article on the closure of another homeless shelter in Vancouver is so fucking infuriating I don't know where to begin.

Having just started working at a shelter I can tell you first hand that the effects will be even more disastrous than what has been going on for the last 2 years.

The last 2 years:
- Have seen Status of Women's offices nearing shutdown (related article)
- Have seen a near quadrupling of homeless in the GVRD (related article)
- Have seen a skyrocketing in rent prices, a decrease in affordable housing and no increase in welfare all while the city government of "Funcouver" is sitting on a $1.5 billion development fund and allowing cheap hotels to be converted to swanky property (related from PIVOT)

"The impending closure of the American Hotel (37 units) by the owners of that building follows the slow-motion closure of the Lucky Lodge (61 tenants as of July, 2006) by the City and the Province where 9 units are now vacant due to welfare’s new policy to refuse to issue rents to prospective tenants of that building. These closures in progress follow the dramatic closures of the Burns Block hotel (18 units) and the Pender Hotel (36 units) in March, 2006, and the closure of the Marble Arch hotel (148 units) and St. Helen’s hotel (100 units) to low income tenants through renovations and rent increases."

The ignorance and malice of politicians astounds me. Let them be stripped of all wealth and thrown into the den of hell they have created.
