According to this article in the CBC it seems the housing crisis in Vancouver (and yes, it is a crisis) is getting worse. Greeeeaaaaat.
This weeks topic of absurdity that makes you want to cry is again curtosey of City council. Essentially there are 3 things the City can do to help the homeless in Vancouver. 1. stop the conversions of low income hotels / apartments 2. buy up a buch of hotels and turn them into social housing 3. make a large portion of the new housing developmens in false creek and Woodwards dedicated to social housing.
Having abandoned #3 and laughed off #2, the city this week made it a little easier to do #1, if people were converting SRO rooms and not just selling the hotels outright. I hate right-wing assholes, who don't know shit about shit.
In other news Campbell is promising that VANOC is gunna come through on social housing while the fraser insitute is getting it from both ends of Charlie Smith. Does anyone smell something?
