The Blog, 'Intercontinental Cry' (I hate that name) has an excellent list of indigenous struggles happening around the globe focussing on developments over the last 2 months. It's mostly concentrated in Asia and Latin-America though there are other examples. It's a long list.
Meanwhile, in Norway, the Canadian journalist and film maker Irshad Manji, is interviewed about the number of death threats she receives from Scandinavia. It's a short piece but I did catch that she is quoted as saying:
"When Canada nearly had its own Sept. 11 last year, when 17 terrorists were arrested in Toronto, the police did not mention that it had anything to do with Islam or Muslims, not a word. We must get the religious side of this story out."
Interesting. In a course on Homeland Security a professor of mine pointed out that they found absolutely nothing on the supposed terrorists in Canada, and that the arrest was based on a conversation that 2 guys had about one of them possibly getting something from a guy who knew a guy who knew a guy who knew a friend of theirs who might hook them up.
Perhaps the media didn't mention Islam with terrorists, because we didn't have any and because they were arrested without charge with no evidence against them.

"When Canada almost had its own Sept. 11?" god, i can't stand her! she's such an annoying liberal. And hello? all i heard from those arrests were that they were muslims.
