Apparently the Moscow Times has an article on the phenomenon of a special form of Russian Vegetarianism which has it's roots in the writings of Leo Tolstoy. I read the article a couple days ago, but it seems it's for subscribers only for the next little bit.
Meanwhile that godless fucker, Donald Rumsfeild, part of the asses of evil including Karl Rove, Dick Cheney got off on charges of torture. A technicality meant that the 9 guys that Rummy said could be tortured were shit outta luck because they did not have "US constitutional rights, and also that Mr Rumsfeld was immune from such suits," because Bush and co. passed a law that senior US people could not be sued for this BS. I'm hoping one day that law will be overturned.
According to court documents, these guys were: hung upside-down and slapped until they lost consciousness, stabbed with knives, subjected to electric shocks, deprived of sleep by loud noises and bright lights and grabbed by aggressive dogs. God bless America.
But in my attempt to inject some good news into political chronicling, Vancouvers own Anti Poverty Committee, has delivered a kick-ass ultimatum to the Vancouver Olympic Committee: make your fucking meetings open to the public or we will shut them down. I consider this a stroke of genious and luckily a bunch of the free dailies are picking up the story.
